Every year, a truly remarkable event unfolds in southern Spain, attracting hundreds of women to what many consider the highlight of their golfing calendar. The Tarleton Ladies Pro-Am, often hailed as Europe’s largest women’s golf event and perhaps its best-kept secret, recently wrapped up another fantastic week of camaraderie, competition, and fun at the 5-star El Rompido Golf Resort.
The Win-Win Concept: Learning from the Best
This Pro-Am operates on a unique and effective concept that benefits everyone. Unlike traditional Pro-Ams where professionals stress over prize money, the Tarleton approach sees the professional players act as leaders, providing team tuition, help, and guidance. This creates a “win-win” environment: amateurs learn from professionals, and professionals gain valuable networking and business opportunities.
Teams are composed of seven players: one professional and six amateurs. The main competition is played in the Stableford format, counting the top four scores per hole. The schedule includes dedicated practice rounds like the Waltz format, designed specifically to foster connection. Crucially, the Texas Scramble day is fundamental to bonding. This is when all teams are mixed up, giving everyone the opportunity to meet people from other teams and vastly increase the buzz and banter across the group. As one player noted, once you complete the Texas Scramble, “everybody knows you know at least two more people that they didn’t know before”.
Championship Golf in Sunny Spain
The event is staged at El Rompido, featuring two excellent 18-hole courses: the North and the South Course. Both are highly rated, sitting in the top 100 in Spain, with the North Course ranked 46th.
The South Course is challenging and beautiful, playing shorter with narrower fairways often lined with trees, sprawling across parkland and marshland.
The North Course is longer and wider, located on more elevated property. While lacking coverage, it requires power and precision and offers great views across the marshlands.
Beyond the Greens: The Gala and Party Night
While golf is very important, the social aspect is equally valued. The week offers plenty of opportunities for fun:
Party Night
Following the first official tournament round, it’s time for party night. This features a lot of karaoke & dancing where you might even see a professional like Chris Langford singing to encourage others. Tina, one of the professionals that attended the first Ladies Pro-Am event performs an ABBA tribute every year, this has become a tradition & something that everyone looks forward to.
The Gala Dinner
The week culminates on Friday with a massive gala dinner where everyone gathers to swap golf stories, celebrate, and present the awards. During dinner, a slideshow of photos from the week is displayed alongside music, encouraging dancing and singing.
Giving Back
The event also holds a raffle for a holiday for two for the next year’s event, with the money collected given to staff who look after the guests, such as those in the bag store and restroom.

The 2026 event runs from April 25th – May 2nd. The package includes:
- 7 nights accommodation in a twin room.
- Semi all-inclusive (half board + drinks from 17:00 – 24:00).

The price for twin sharing is £1439.00 per person. You can enter as a complete team of six (with or without a professional) or enter as individuals, and we will match you with other team members and a professional.
