Azor Hotel, Azores, April, May, June + Sept, Oct 2021
The nine islands that make up the Azores are in fact the peaks of some of the world's tallest mountains, reaching from deep beneath the Atlantic. The once-uninhabited, volcanic archipelago now hosts thousands of tourists every year who flock to the islands for sun, sand and verdant mountain scenery. From the beaches of Praia da Vitoria to the bustling marina of Horta, to the bubbling volcanic ground "ovens" of Furnas, these islands offer unparalleled--and unusual--adventures to discover.
With a strong connection to the ocean and nature, the Azor Hotel is the starting point to discover the Azores.
This lifestyle hotel includes 123 rooms and suites with spectacular views of the sea, the À TERRA restaurant, the Lobby Market, the new Spa, Gym, Casino, Conference Center (with 7 rooms) and a Panoramic Outdoor Pool. Taking advantage of the natural environment of São Miguel, Azor Hotel offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, adventures and local experiences.
Access to the pool, to the gym and you can still order the continental breakfast at any time you want. All available 24 hours a day.
There are two courses to play in the Azores.
Furnas Golf Club is a spectacular golf course set in the midst of a powerful volcanic landscape with luxuriant tropical vegetation. This is a truly incredible golfing experience.
The first nine holes of the course were laid out by MacKenzie Ross in 1936, and represent the first golf course on the island. The holes meander through a landscape of spectacular natural beauty that leaves you speechless. Brilliantly extended in 1992 by golf course architects Bob Cameron and Chris Powell, the course now boasts 18 magnificent golf holes and warm British style clubhouse.
The Course itself set amid stand of magestic japanese cedars and with friendishly contoured greens is quite gentle in nature but is without doubt a genuine test of skill and finesse.

The Batalha Golf Course is to be found on the Island of Sao Miguel in the Azores and consists of 27 holes. This course offers the golfer various choices of which holes to play to make up their own personal round. The fairways of the Batalha Golf Course run over mainly flat terrain which have been created on a volcanic rock base. The name of the golf course is taken from a historic battle that occurred in the 19th century when two opposing Portuguese armies fought on this spot for control of the island. The holes tend to be quite long and with generous tree lined fairways making an attractive atmosphere for the game of golf.
